Make a complete profile by following my system. You already have a great resume by now, use that content to create a hot profile. And start connecting with recruiters, employees in your industry and your class mates. Write a custom invitation message instead of the default provided by LinkedIn.
The message can be along the following lines,
Tweak it to your needs, don’t blindly start using this.
Don’t skip creating a LinkedIn profile. I assure you, you will be forced to create it by the end of this section, due to a job search strategy I show in the next chapter.
Pro Tip: Make sure you have a nice picture for all your profiles on job portals and LinkedIn. Make sure you are nicely dressed, groomed (shaved, hair cut etc) and smiling! Don’t look like you are about to be locked up in jail! If you don’t have a good picture, get one! You will need one once you get a job, might as well get a good one now. Name the file firstname_lastname_job_title.png or firstname_lastname_degree.png.
Also customize your public URL; by default the URL is lengthy, garbled and ugly! You can learn how to customize the URL here.
