Old Story

Woe Is Me

I finished PUC (12th). I screwed up the CET, didn’t expect it to be that tough. Got a lousy ranking. Now I have to go to a bad college or move to a new town for a CS seat or pick something else to stay at home and do my engineering. I was told Mechanical Engineering is an ever green field, my “expert” uncle suggested ME is not bad and will always be hot. My dad bought into this and suggested I take up the ME seat, ignoring the fact that, this “expert” uncle is not even an engineer, let alone a Mechanical Engineer.

Due to forces beyond my control I took up ME, cannot really argue with parents when I have lousy marks.

Now I finished ME after a struggle due to disinterest. I did OK. I find myself looking for a job desperately not knowing how to start or where to start. It doesn’t help that I am not able to do well in interviews and my parents, relatives and friends are breathing down my neck. The so called “friends” are making it even harder. Rubbing salt in my wounds, smiling smugly because they already found a job and I am still looking.

It is the same with my cousins with distinction. Aunty can’t stop talking about her son getting such a good salary and working for an international MNC. As if MNCs are not international! Aunt running her mouth all the time is taking a toll on mom and dad. Putting undue pressure on me. The financial situation of the home is bad. I cannot even have breakfast with my father around, cannot look him in the eye!

Some of it or all of it could be your story right now. Earning a degree you didn’t want, forced to look for jobs you don’t want or stay in your field of expertise. And many other problems like money, failed subjects etc.,

If you carry this around in your head, it will weigh you down and show itself in your attitude, confidence and body language and your verbal communication. Your head will be down, shoulders drooping and voice feeble and unconvincing in the interview.

YOU DON’T WANT THAT!!!!!

This is why I created the first chapter to have a very different outlook. You are going to turn your story around.

It doesn’t matter if the degree you earned is what you wanted or not. It doesn’t matter if you have failed in subjects. It doesn’t matter if you lost a year because of lack of eligibility. The ONLY thing that matters is how you are going to show you are passionate about your field and are genuinely interested in the job opening you are interviewing for.

The KEY is to sell yourself based on your story you create with the help of your customized resume, passion and confidence. The good news is, it is doable!

Let’s go to the new story.
