Their Point of View
Hiring managers and engineers don’t find conducting interviews exciting unless there is something wrong with their head! It is one of those things on the check list they have to cross off. More often than not they go through the motions without much interest.
Most of them have their own work to finish, deadlines to meet and plans of going home to relax. Last thing they want to do is spend their precious time on interviewing. Especially boring freshers who say and do the same damn thing every time. The faster they find the candidate the happier they will be. They WANT to hire YOU, all you have to do is show them you have what they are looking for. By now you should know what it is. Passion, technical and communication skills, and a bit of confidence and charisma to get them to like you and hire you.
In some cases the one interviewing you might have been pulled from his/her desk to conduct the interview last minute against his/her will! Sometimes the manager or engineer who was supposed to interview you gets busy or stuck in an extended meeting, during these times they pick someone else to do the interview. This scenario works in your favor, just do your magic you learned from this book and you are golden.
To summarize no one is keen to conduct interviews let alone all day, especially walk-ins etc. It makes it only worse when they have to do it on the weekends! They would rather be relaxing at home with family or spending time with their friends. Make their lives easy, give them what they want. Make them happy! Show them what they want to see.
Some interviewers will be friendly and others can be arrogant. Don’t get flustered, do your job of answering the questions to the best of your abilities, ask the right questions and demonstrate your passion and skills. Never look frustrated or lose cool. Be cool!
In the end they just want to make sure they are hiring the right person.
